"Local Mix" and hand-made songs

I was recently given two lovely compilations on tape by a local song maker, along with a sporty new walkman to play them on. The following day my iPod took a spin through the top loader.

Thank-you Gods of audio "rotfl lol?!" you jesters you.

So, the first tape is split between solo recordings and recordings made by the tape-artist's other project, the raucous, ball-kicking Heavy Yolks. Side A reads as "softly, softly" and side B more like "Fuck you". Very charming.

Meanwhile, the guys on the second tape are mostly from up North. Stuff like Dragging Pianos, The Starry Field, Emma Russack, Joseph Liddy and The Skeleton Horse (but not this Joseph Lyddy with the better kept horses) Quaoube (heck, I love you Q). Even Alligator Creek (named after Alligator Creek). Why, not even Jetstar could sell Townsville this good.
