Happy Birthday MTP!!!

Ok so....
Mixed Tape Project is one year old and we still do not have a complete tape which makes the cassette lords a little teary and makes us ladies here at MTP a little impatient!
So we have decided to reformat the project.... genius!!
Each month we will add a track to each tape for you guided by your suggestions. If your suggestion is chosen we will post you a world famous MTP post out! As seen in the blog, http://mixedtapeproject.blogspot.com/2011/04/post-out-today.html. Your name will appear on the final product as well (in whatever font you like except comic sans...).
The winning suggestions will be chosen at random too to keep that feeling of spontaneity and the idea that the tapes are a collaboration with an outcome Michelle and Sarah could not predict!
Let's start this, huzzah!!

So the last track on the 1997 tape was....
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia

Open theme was....
A House of many ghosts by Brothertiger (http://www.myspace.com/brothertiger )

For Winter Songs we aren't going to tell you.... It is totally up to you! How are you feeling this winter? Eh eh?

What are your suggestions for the next track?
Email us on cassettejourney@gmail.com
Also as always if you have a mixed tape you would like to share with us email us a link or post one to us.

xxMTP aka Michelle and Sarah.

Snotty nosed punkxxx

I am a recent joinee of 8tracks. And you really do need to wade through the 15 year old indie hit mix tapes and dubstep mixes to find gold.
Man. SO MUCH DUBSTEP!!!!
Anyhow my favourite mix I have found is titled 'Punk Songs with Saxophone'. I love mix tapes with a very clear and direct theme. And you know this tape has actually changed my mind about the saxophone and has alerted me that the sax is alright.
Here is the link....

And while we are on the theme of favourites....
I have had the cassette for UK Squeeze 'Cool for Cats' on display on my bedroom side table for about a year now. I have been putting other tapes on the top of the pile for months now but the aesthetic pleasure this tape oozes is undeniable I tell you. It always makes it way back on the top of the pile.
Here it is in all its geometric glory (and yes that is cat fur this tape is resting on...)

And and finally we are in the process of reformatting the be-jebus out of this project. Watch out world a cassette may be completed in the near future!

Farewell!

A very good friend here at Mixed Tape Project recently boarded a plane heading to New York via Prague/Iceland/and other amazing European locales. She won't be back for another year and that makes us here feel selfishly sad! We will miss her amazing style, awesome dance moves, ability to shoot hoops on the ghetto basketball court and her beautiful company.
Sigh very jealous. Will be in New York to hang next year. Xxxx

Anyhow made her a tape. And I put it on 8tracks.com. I am going to load up all the tapes we make here onto this site. (As always there is an option to get a hard cassette copy if you email us.)

The mix is called 'B-Ball and D-Floor' and is for Romanie.

autumnal rrrrrumble

The subtitle of this mix tape is Holy Cow, Better Late Than Never, Right? And I name it that because I promised to send it over a year ago now, to a friend who kindly indulged me by requesting I make them a playlist. Without a doubt they've long since forgotten. But this particular mix, to me, has manifested into an INTENSELY IMPORTANT deal. Several versions have been made in the meantime, all expiring in relevance.

And now it's autumn again, and all damn pretty but REAL cold. A time of year that makes a statement and here is my response to it. There are a few songs from the original copy that soundcloud won't allow, bless it's copyright-concious socks. But the general gist is there: lush tunes for kicking leaves to.

So as I said, the original recipient has likely long-since forgotten ever asking for some music. But I was very excited about the mix at the time, and it's hell nice to finally tick it off the to-do list.  Not quite sure how to finally get a copy to them, so here at least it lives on the old mixtape page.
